Parochial Pastor

Father Angelito Peries

Father Angelito Peries, pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, was born in Sri Lanka, an island of about 20 million people just off the southeastern coast of India. He was ordained at age 23 and joined an order of priests known as the Redemptorists, founded almost 300 years ago with a mission to preach to the poorest and most neglected people. On his way here, he has studied and lived around the world, including in Rome.  He studied in Italy and then a series of postings and missions until he came to Los Angeles to learn about the film industry and television production. His intent was to apply the communication skills to spread the word of Jesus in his homeland but by then Sri Lanka was overtaken by war and he was unable to go back home. He worked a number of postings in California that eventually brought him to Calistoga in 2012 after spending time in Windsor as pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
